Porsche Flachbau RS: the 2026 slant-nose one-off on a 911 GT2 RS

Forty years after Porsche stopped building slant-nose 930s, the factory built one more slant nose. The Flachbau RS is a modern prototype in the literal sense: a single car developed and validated through Porsche’s own test programme.

What is the Porsche Flachbau RS?

The Porsche Flachbau RS is a factory one-off commissioned by a private Porsche enthusiast through the Sonderwunsch (special wishes) department, and revealed on 14 August 2026. Flachbau is the German term for the slant-nose, or flat-nose, body style.

What was the donor car?

The donor car was a like-new 2018 Porsche 911 GT2 RS of the 991.2 generation, with the Weissach Package. By agreement with the customer the drivetrain was left unchanged, so the car keeps the GT2 RS’s twin-turbocharged flat-six. Lightweight measures saved 31.6 kg.

Who designed the Flachbau RS?

Grant Larson designed the Flachbau RS. The now-retired Porsche designer also shaped the modern 935 reinterpretation of 2018. The front end reinterprets the 935/78 “Moby Dick” Le Mans car, with reshaped wheel arches and a U-shaped contrasting graphic across the bonnet. The paint is a Grand Prix White tone developed for this car and matched to a historic reference in the Porsche collection.

How was the Flachbau RS developed and tested?
