What counts as a source

We prefer, in order: factory documents (Kardex, Production Specification, Porsche press archives), court rulings and official statements, established marque references and registries, contemporary press, and later secondary reporting. Forums and listings are used only to show what was claimed, never as proof.

Documented, claimed, unknown

Each factual statement belongs to one of three classes. Documented statements rest on a source we can name. Claims are attributed to whoever made them. Where sources disagree, for example on the colour or scrapping date of a 901 prototype, we show the disagreement instead of choosing silently.

Sensitive history

Pages on Ferdinand Porsche’s role in the Nazi regime and on forced labour at the Volkswagen works report the documented record plainly, including the findings of historians commissioned by Porsche and Volkswagen. We do not use that history for sensation.

Living people and former owners

We do not publish private details of car owners or sellers beyond what they or the press already made public. The former owner of the “911 T prototype” is discussed only through his public listing and website.

Corrections

Corrections are made as soon as a better source is available, and the page’s “last checked” date changes when its facts are reviewed.

Independence

The archive is independent and not affiliated with Porsche or Volkswagen. Trademarks belong to their owners.
